Spring is one of the best seasons to enjoy nature at its finest since temperatures are usually just right: not too hot nor too cool. That's why it's the perfect time for a picnic day out. Read on and find out everything you need to know about how to organise a different kind of day outdoors, whether it's on a beach, at a park or in the mountains. You'll see just how easy it is. Let's begin!

1. Light and safe tableware

If you live in an area close to the beach, you can take advantage of spring days to relax with the sounds of the sea and lose yourself in the beautiful horizon. Sounds great, doesn't it? However, the first piece of advice we have for you is useful for any scenario, and that's to opt for practicality. One of the most important things at a picnic, of course, is the time taken beforehand to prepare all the food and drinks you'll need to take with you. To make everything much more comfortable and safe, the best thing to do is to use lightweight accessories, such as those shown.

2. A varied menu

he idea of a picnic is to spend lots of time outside, usually as long as the sun is shining and until it starts to get chilly or dusk begins to fall. That's why we need to stock up on food and drinks. Our recommendation is to think about a comfortable, varied and healthy menu. You can prepare some food containers with appetisers, and for the main course you can opt for a fresh salad, which is always easy to prepare and affordable. If you prefer, you can always opt for sandwiches.

For dessert or a snack, don't forget the fruit. It's always a great combination for outdoor activities. You can opt for some delicious sliced watermelon, which is always a winner and helps us stay hydrated on hot days, or more practical fruit that you only have to wash, such as apples, plums or peaches.

3. Blankets and cushions for the ground

When we go on a picnic, we imagine that the ground will be soft and comfortable enough for us to sit down and enjoy our little feast. However, we soon realise that the reality is quite different, as the place where we've set up is often not as comfy as we thought. Ants might try to crawl into our containers, dust from the sand or soil threatens our food, some bothersome twigs prevent us from sitting down comfortably, and so on.

To ensure that you're comfortable, we recommend that you go one step further and always have at least one picnic blanket or tablecloth on hand. It will mark out the perimeter you need to place your things and to get settled, and it will also act as protection for your food (and your clothes as well). Thanks to something so simple and inexpensive, you'll be able to have a nice meal and lie down to relax while you take in the scenery or simply enjoy your favourite novel. Do you have room to spare? Take a couple of cushions with you so that stones and rocks don't bother you.

4. A large backpack to carry everything

Some baskets are more of an aesthetic accessory than they are practical, so use only those that really make it easy to carry everything you need. If there are several of you, you can divide everything up so that you don't need to carry too much weight and the walk is more pleasant for everyone. For example, the basket shown in the image is handwoven from rattan, a natural, renewable, fast-growing, strong and durable material What makes it both practical and beautiful? Easy, it closes very comfortably and has straps so you can wear it like a backpack.

5. Set up a hut

We know that this is an exceptional case, but we can't wait to show you all the options available to you for a great picnic day. What do you think of this improvised hut? This idea is more suitable for a picnic at a country house or in a private area, where you can set out a large number of things (so as not to be too conspicuous). Here's what we've used to achieve this charming effect.

You don't have to go camping to enjoy the feeling of sleeping in a tent. First, find two trees at a safe distance from each other or simply something where you can safely hang a rope to drape fabric over. Unfold your chosen fabrics (preferably not too heavy) and open them up, leaving an opening in the middle. You can put a rock on top of them to keep them in place. Prepare a blanket, a duvet and some cushions to set up the space and add a few lights or solar- or battery-powered lanterns for when it gets dark. Isn't it magical?
