This past year has not been easy. Because we had to adapt to a new way of life, a bit more complex and uncertain. This is why, learning to disconnect and realx at home has become a really important need to apply to our day by day. Mental health is also important!

Believe us when we say that there is always time to stop and breathe, even in the more stressing day. We tell you how your can disconnect from work both if you work from or outside home. It is something vital to your well-being, for your emotional stability and your and your family's happiness. So, do not miss these tips to disconnect and relax at home.

Create a relaxing corner at home

Our home is our shelter when our work day is over, whether it is closing our computer after working remotely or coming through the door after our work day. This is why it is so important that it is not an absolute chaos and that we find a corner to relax.

If you still have not located that corner of your home, you can create it! For example, you can do it by placing two armchairs in front of each other as such. This way, you can share more times with your family or with your partner, with a quiet chat or eating something. Or, resting while you quietly leaf through a book or a magazine.

Did you know that having a specific place that we only use to relax helps us do it almost automatically when we are there? Our brain will understand that we are quiet and safe there, and that it is time to disconnect.

A tip for disconnecting and relaxing at home: take off your shoes and put home slippers and comfy clothes on, turn off your phone and look for an activity that relaxes you. Even if it is just for 30 minutes, take a daily break to do something you like in that corner and disconnect a 100%.

Take your time

One of the main points to take in mind to relax and disconnect at home, is enjoying your own time: free and peaceful time, disconnecting, doing things that make us happy...

What are we talking about?

  • Reading a book or magazine
  • Working out at home
  • Stretching your back
  • Watching a movie or documentary
  • Listening to a podcast
  • Talking on the phone with a friend that we have not spoken to in a long time
  • Making fun plans for the weekend

Having daily leisure time aside from work is essential to be happy, so do not hesitate! Disconnect aconnd leave stress aside by taking time for those things that make you happy.

Choose the right music to help you relax

Did you know that everyday stress has an impact on your body? Muscle overload, contractures, excess cortisol that can cause high blood pressure… This is why we tell you time after time that you think about yourself, your health and disconnecting and relaxing in such an important place as your home.

One of our favorite methods is music. Lay on the sofa, armchair or any quiet place. Grab some earphones that muffle well and choose a relaxing playlist.

Did you know that cortison (the hormone related to anxiety) is reduced and your mind is freed from accumulated tension when we listen to music that makes us feel calm and happy? Take even 10 minutes to close your eyes, turn the volume up and fight stress and tension at home.

Take a relaxing shower or bath

Warm water is great for relaxing at home. The best we can do is taking a shower, because we save lots of water in comparison to taking a bath; but you can indulge yourself once in a while with a warm foaming bath with relaxing scents.

Do you know what a warm shower or bath can give you?

  • Helps you reduce anxiety
  • Frees us from muscle stiffness, leaving muscles more relaxed
  • Calms daily stress
  • With warm water we get rid of toxins and we improve blood flow
  • We calm body pains, such as inflammation

And if you dry yourself after with a soft and warm towel, you will feel good as new!

Laughter helps us de-stress

Lastly, something as simple as laughter is essential when it comes to de-stressing and relaxing. When we smile we release endorphins and dopamine, while the cortisol hormone (related to anxiety and stress) is reduced. This is why we recommend you to try to laugh as much as possible when you are at home.

Play a series that always makes your smile, a funny monologue, chat about fun anecdotes with your partner or friends...

Helping yourself to be a bit happier is in your hands!
