What is wool?
Wool is a practical natural material that usually comes from sheep. The raw wool is washed and then spun into yarn. Wool rugs have many advantages. They're soft, warm and comfortable to walk on, and they're also very hardwearing. They're stain-resistant too, because wool has it own natural oil. This means that dirt stays on the surface and doesn't penetrate into the rug. All wool rugs shed - some more, some less - vacuum them regularly to prevent the loose fibers from scattering.
Designer Emma Hagman
When designing the autumn textile collection, I got carried away with big and bold graphical patterns. I started out drawing by hand, to get a lively feel. I like how the hand makes things naturally asymmetric. Random checks, untamed leaves, and details from nature were my inspiration. For me, Scandinavian design is not only simple, but also warm, nature-inspired, and often bold and large-scale. I hope you find this collection as happy and welcoming as I do.
Made using the hand tufting weaving technique
With hand-tufted rugs, a design is created on a canvas using a tufting gun. This tool pushes strands of wool through the canvas to create loops on the surface. They form a pile, which can be kept shaggy, or cut to create a uniform surface. The loops are secured with a layer of latex on the back and then finished with a piece of fabric glued to it. The technique allows for the efficient production of rugs in various colors and patterns in a relatively short amount of time.
