We love pets! And we want all family members to come into our IKEA store and have a great day together. But because our facilities include a space dedicated to catering, our food hygiene and safety policy requires us to keep a number of standards in mind.

  • Your pet can go with you to all our facilities, with the exception of Småland and our food areas: Swedish Restaurant, Swedish Bistro and Swedish Shop. (Applicable for any IKEA store or IKEA point with a food area).

  • You can enter with your dog as long as it is on a non-extendable leash up to a maximum of 1.5m (4.92 feet / 59.05 inches).

  • Service animals are allowed in our stores as defined by the ADA. In compliance with the ADA, IKEA employees may ask the following questions to determine if it is a service animal: 1. Is it a service animal? 2. What task or function is it trained to perform?

  • Any type of pet other than a dog must be kept inside a carrier. Pets are not allowed to climb on the furniture in any of our commercial or rest areas. Pets must remain on the floor at all times or in carriers that do not allow them to get out.

  • Please avoid using stairs or escalators if your pet is not in a carrier or in your arms, there is risk of entrapment. We recommend the use of the lift.

  • Make sure your pet is always under the supervision of a responsible adult and avoid leaving it tied up outside your IKEA store. 

  • The handler or owner of the pet will be responsible for any damage and/or harm caused by the pet to the IKEA premises or to third parties.

  • Remember that if your dog has been trained for attack and defense, has had aggressive episodes or is considered potentially dangerous, it must wear a muzzle at all times, in addition to carrying the appropriate documentation.

  • Each pet owner must carry, at all times, excrement collection bags, as well as cleaning wipes, if necessary.

  • Please prevent your pet from relieving itself inside our facilities. If this happens, the owner will immediately pick it up/clean it and notify our staff to ensure that the area is sanitized by the cleaning team.

  • The owner shall be held responsible for any damage and/or harm caused by his or her pet to the IKEA premises or to third parties, and shall be liable for any expenses or costs resulting from such actions.

  • Make sure you comply with all legal requirements for pet ownership in terms of health, hygiene, vaccination and safety measures.

  • To ensure the safety of our customers and to avoid dangerous or uncomfortable situations to people or animals, IKEA reserves the right of admission of pets to events taking place in the store.

  • IKEA has the right to require to leave our premises to any pet owner that does not comply with any of the points included in these regulations, as well as those that disturb or threaten the well-being and safety of our customers, whether in terms of behavior, noise or hygiene.

  • IKEA reserves the right to modify these regulations as it may deem necessary.

  • We aim to respect all visitors, that is why our policy must take into account that your IKEA store has unique hygiene and food safety features.

Pets may have access to the restroom area, but under no circumstances may they use the sinks as drinking fountains.
Miniature horses: In the case of miniature horses, the following additional factors should be taken into account: 1) The type, size and weight of the miniature horse and if there is a way to allow it into the premises. 2) If the person in charge of the animal has enough control of the animal. 3) If the presence of the miniature horse in the premises affects the safety regulations that are necessary for a safe functioning.

Yes, in accordance with the ADA law, this type of dog is allowed in. Guide dogs, service dogs, signal dogs, therapy or emotional support dogs and warning dogs (medical alerts for various conditions) will be allowed on the premises of all IKEA Stores (including restaurant, bistro and Swedish Food Store), as long as they are accompanied by the person they are assisting and they are not required to wear a muzzle, provided they do not pose a direct threat. In these cases, the dog, may be on a leash or harness, or be carried accordingly.

Because there are hygiene and food safety reasons, which condition the access of the dog or pets.

The handler or owner will be responsible of the damagess and/or losses their pet causes to the IKEA facilities or third parties, responding furthermore to any expense or cost that results from these actions, according to the local legislation (Article 154 (civil code)). —Respond to the resulting damages, even without fault or negligence, except when the cause of the damage means force majeure: (a) the guardian, keeper, owner or those who have an animal, due to the damages it must cause, even if it breaks free or is lost; this responsibility ends if the damage occurs beacuse of the damaged.

If this happens, the owner will immediately pick it up/clean it and notify IKEA staff to ensure that the area is sanitized by the cleaning team.
